The Howard has an excellent record in extending the most able students and is committed to a policy of differentiation in teaching and learning. This encompasses variety, enrichment, extension and support for students. The school’s Most Able policy ensures the identification of students, the provision of extension and enrichment activities and the careful monitoring of progress to ensure that students achieve their very best. Our core aim is to ensure students are extended within the classroom.
In addition, there is a programme of enrichment activities which runs throughout the year which extends our students and encourages them to become involved in activities outside the normal curriculum time. We have a Most Able Lead Teacher, Helen Darch (firstname.lastname@example.org) who co-ordinates all these activities within school and works closely with colleagues at The Howard and at other schools to ensure that we are constantly looking at the choice of extension activities for our students.
