The Learning 4 Life Programme

We place a high value on our pastoral care at The Howard. To ensure our students have contact with their form tutor daily we have extended ‘Learning 4 Life’ registration sessions in the afternoon. During this time, students participate in various sessions:

Assemblies may be Year or House assemblies on topical themes and some are led by guest presenters.

Smart Moves’ sessions are designed to support Year 7 in their transition from primary school.

Discovery Day’ sessions support students in developing positive learning habits and also provides opportunities to discuss current news headlines.

Reading for pleasure sessions supports students’ literacy skills.

Year 11 Citizenship sessions extends students’ learning about modern life issues.  Topics include Stress management, Good mental health, Sex and relationships and Young carers.

Sessions with age-appropriate content supports students in their personal development and helps prepares them for their future.  The ‘Life Skills’ curriculum topics include:
