Subjects and Qualifications

Key Stage 3

Students will study a broad programme based on the National Curriculum that includes:

  • The Arts: Art, Drama and Music
  • Design and Technology: Construction, Food Technology and Textiles Technology
  • English
  • Humanities: Geography, History and Religious Studies
  • Languages: two languages from French, German and Spanish. Extracurricular Latin is available.
  • Maths and Computing
  • Science
  • Physical Education
  • Personal Development
  • Learning for Life

Key Stage 4

Students will study a core programme of both qualification and non-qualification subjects:

  • GCSE English Language & GCSE English Literature
  • GCSE Maths
  • GCSE Combined Science or, optionally, GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry and GCSE Physics 
  • Philosophy, Religion and Ethics (PRE)
  • Physical Education
  • Learning for Life

Students will also study optional GCSE and/or Level 2 BTEC qualifications.   All students have the opportunity to take a combination of subjects leading to the English Baccalaureate

Key Stage 5

In Years 12 and 13 students study A Level and/or other Level 3 qualifications. 

In addition, students who have not yet achieved the Government's minimum standard (Grade 4) in GCSE English and/or Maths will study for re-takes.
