Our Curriculum Intent

The languages department will meet the Howard’s Curriculum Intent

We will bring out the best by opening minds and broadening horizons through learning about languages and cultures that enrich our global community, as well as challenging stereotypes, prejudices and preconceptions.

Learners will develop a range of transferable and interpersonal skills, enabling them to make the most of opportunities where they can apply their learning to enhance their futures.

A love of Languages, fostered by the development of linguistic thinking and a view of Languages as a rich and creative subject.

Students at The Howard will not only learn a new language but will learn to recognise speakers of Spanish, French and German outside of their native countries. In turn they will learn about the historical circumstances in which languages have evolved.
